Producer Patrick Jerome was born and raised in Haiti. One of his earliest films brought him notoriety, but also forced him to go into hiding, until he received asylum and moved to the US.
He persisted with filmmaking, and recently produced Assassin Behind the Glass, a contemporary urban story that questions whether “snitching” is an honorable virtue, a death sentence, or perhaps a little bit of both.
Patrick comments on the Academy Awards: “The 2019 Academy Awards (The Oscars) give me hope for a diverse and fair system of recognition for artist or filmmaker’s works. The nominees for this year represent citizens from all different backgrounds throughout the world.”
“Since my focus on movies that I produced has been inspired or based on true life events and stories. It’s important to me to see filmmakers get recognized for works that come from their hearts and beliefs, stories that are connected with their souls and cultures. I am hopeful for the future of the voting system the Academy of Motion Pictures has put in place now to keep on recognize artists from their original work.”
Assassin Behind the Glass premiered at the Boston International Film Festival in April, followed by a streaming release on iTunes, Amazon, Hulu, Redbox, Google Play, Playstation Network, Hoopla, Tubi, FandangoNOW, Kanopy, SlingTV, iDemand, and Patrick contunues to work to bring the film to an even wider audience.
